It is important to note that our material is gluten free, and we test each lot to confirm this. Alfalfa is naturally gluten free, as it is not a grass but rather a legume. Cereal grasses are gluten free IF they are harvested in the grass stage and not allowed to grow to the jointing stage whereby the plant begins to form the seed head that contains the gluten. The FDA allows less than 20ppm to be labeled gluten free; Canada and some other countries require less than 10ppm to be considered gluten free. At NHI we strive for “ND” (NON detected) no gluten. We take GLUTEN FREE SERIOUSLY.
Our whole powders include the whole leaf and leaf stems of each plant, which provides fiber as well as nutrients. We mill our pelleted alfalfa and cereal grasses to a fine powder, fine enough that 100% of the individual particles pass through an 80 mesh (177 microns) screen.

We ship our material in double plastic bags inside 25 kg boxes, palletized and shrink wrapped. We utilize a proprietary tamper evident serialized coding and marking system on all boxed and palletized shipments.
Customers should want to see a Certificate of Analysis (COA) on the raw material they are purchasing for their end product. Our COAs are lot specific. For that reason, we do not “publish” our COAs. We take a composite sample from each lot and sub-lot and have it analyzed by a third party laboratory. When material meets our high standards we retain the sample and material and make the lot-specific Certificate of Analysis available to customers for perusal. If the material does not meet or exceed our expectations, we reject it. We ALWAYS strive to exceed our specification expectations. To request a copy of our Wheatgrass specification Sheet or a LOT SPECIFIC COA, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
