It is important to note that our material is gluten free, and we test each lot to confirm this. Alfalfa is naturally gluten free, as it is not a grass but rather a legume. Cereal grasses are gluten free IF they are harvested in the grass stage and not allowed to grow to the jointing stage whereby the plant begins to form the seed head that contains the gluten. The FDA allows less than 20ppm to be labeled gluten free; Canada and some other countries require less than 10ppm to be considered gluten free. At NHI we strive for “ND” (NON detected) no gluten.
